The Beach House

The Beach House is a Shudder streaming-service exclusive that came out last year but feels like it came out last month. A happy accident for a first time director and largely no-name cast, but not a happy watch for the rest of us. Our discussion gets a wee bit more philosophical and timely this week. Oh boy, did this movie divide us. One loved it, one hated it. Listen for the good, bad and ugly, and lots of angry birds.

Three people stand at the edge of a stone well, gazing down. Above them, a bright blue sky with clouds hangs overhead. One person clutches a rope tightly, as if they might discover something sinister lurking below—a scene straight out of a horror movie review podcast brimming with anticipation and curiosity. 0

The Ruins

Both of us read the book this film was based on, so it added another dimension to our discussion about this killer plant thriller in the wilds of Central America.
