The Exorcist 3 is a weird an uneven and (as usual) plagued by studio interference. But it IS the source to one of the single-most-notoriously-effective jump scares in horror cinema. And yes, we talked about that too. Thanks to Adam for the request!
In fact, this is another one of those weeks where we suggest that ALL of our fans go out and see this film before listening to the episode. Its charms – and there are many – will be best experienced if you don’t go into it knowing much about it, much less a play-by-play of the plot. You’ve come this far with us. You can trust us. Well, thanks to listener request, we finally found an excuse to check out the Driller Killer in all his phallic, penetrative action. Hard to believe this is the first in a series of three Roger Corman-produced slumber party massacres. And a remake is in the works!
Whatever “fall break” is, it’s the sunny original title of the forgettable-but-memorable 80’s slasher “The Mutilator” that everyone has already forgotten about. You love those “so bad it’s good” movies? Look no further. We got exactly what we were looking for with this one, with a catchy theme song thrown in. Some films just go the extra mile.
