Halloween Horror Movies
Here is a list of films we have reviewed that either take place during the Halloween holiday or are otherwise somehow appropriate viewing material for the Halloween season. Maybe they involve classic monsters or genre mashups, or invoke the spirit of Halloween in a particularly solid way. Or, as Craig often likes to say, “This is great to have playing in the background during a Halloween party when you’re having a few beers with your buddies.”

Hellbent
Despite being billed as “the first gay slasher film,” not many people have heard of this 2004 micro-budget indie movie. It did not receive a wide release, but it’s now available for streaming online, 14 years later, and we both concluded that it is definitely worth a watch. Listen here for our analysis

Hocus Pocus
And it’s timely too, as the long awaited sequel to Hocus Pocus just came out this month. Not only can you watch the movie with your kids, but you can share this podcast with them too, as we kept our whole discussion and language squeaky-clean for your listening pleasure. Once Bitten
This is Jim Carrey’s big breakthrough – his first starring role as a frustrated teenage virgin who can’t get his girlfriend to give it up, so he turns to a female vampire instead and gets more than he bargained for. It’s goofy as hell and 80’s through-and-through, which means we more or less loved it.

Satan’s Little Helper
This year, we scraped up this little-known flick with a mostly-unknown cast that happens to include Amanda Plummer. How she ended up in this turkey, we have no idea. The reviews online are kinder to this film than we ended up being. But you know Craig will give it a pass anyway.
