Fright Night (1985)
From fantastic performances to iconic cover art, this movie has heart and soul that holds up just as strong today, 30 years later.

We both loved this movie in so many ways.
A cast of surprising stars leads this slasher into territory that is perhaps a little more heartfelt and genuine than your typical summer camp slasher pic from the 80s.
Whoa boy, did we enjoy deconstructing this terribly forgettable flick that, nevertheless, stars primo scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis – and a very brief appearance by Leslie Nielsen.
Our second Victor Salva movie (we previously discussed Clownhouse), and it’s clear this man has some style and originality in his films. Both of us loved this unique – if uneven – romp that begins as a suspenseful chase film and ends up a monster movie.
This classic from Roger Corman has spawned a hit musical and terrific 1980’s movie update starring Rick Moranis. Yeah, there is the inherent 1960’s goofiness in the original, but even much of that is clearly intentional. Give this short little movie a shot and you may just be surprised.
