Needful Things

We picked this movie because he had such a prominent role. Have a look at yet another Stephen King adaptation and see how it stacks up to the book.

A dimly lit room with vintage decor, including ornate lamps and a mirror, sets the scene much like a horror movie. A woman in a nightgown appears to be floating in front of a fireplace, facing someone grounded on the floor. The atmosphere is mysterious and eerie—perfect for our next podcast review. 0

The Fury

To be fair, Kirk Douglas is a legend. And so is Brian De Palma, the director. And so is John Williams, the composer. Actually, this film had a lot going for it, but as De Palma’s follow-up to Carrie, we were left wanting.

The Witches

It turned out to be much scarier than we remembered, making it a perfect selection to continue our month of family-friendly horror films. And the remake is on the way, so we’ll see how it measures up to the original.

3615 Code Père Noël (aka Deadly Games)

And yes, the similarity is strong: A young boy is forced to use traps to protect his home after a menacing Santa slides down his chimney. Although it’s much darker than most holiday movies, what we found in this forgotten French flick was a lot of heart and a fun ride. Recently remastered, you can now catch it exclusively on the Shudder network.
